sourcing..

Now it's all very well to tease you with so many beautiful items for your home but most of them are very expensive so I will share with you every now and then where to source some cheaper beautiful things for your house, Anthropologie is from the US and they stock stuff like shown below that is tasteful yet without the designer price tag, check out their website for store locations and online purchasing as well.

rugs to warm up your winter...well here anyway

It's getting cold here, only one week until it's officially winter and I am on a rug lookout, unfortunately all the ones I love shown below are super expensive. Rugs in interior design act as an anchor to your furniture and can be a "hero" piece that is if they are one of the ones shown below or the like.
p.s. of course they keep you warm as well!!!

desert rose 2

great examples of where interior design used resonates with it's environment, in this case a desert resort in the middle east, so beautiful...

real estate byron bay

Just carrying on from the last post, good real estate looks like this here and goes for anywhere between 1.3- 10 million!!

breakfast in byron

I haven't done a post about my home town Byron bay for a while so here it is, we had breakkie at byron beach cafe today, the food is average esp. for a vego like me but the views more than make up for that lack, the deck to the cafe basically faces towards the main beach in Byron bay and it was a beautiful autumn morning. Dont you love the sculpture of the girl in bikini showering at the entrance, typical of Byron bay, yes its paradise but you get used to it !!

2010 interior design awards

these are some of my favorites from the different categories from the awards, the level of design skill used is humbling to say the least!

this is by one of my fav. local designers, greg natale, this is his signature hollywood glam style, nice wall art by J.Adler and clever usage of outdoor cement blocks on the inside.

love the injection of red in here, the usage of firewood as a design feature and steel curtains

pretty in pink in a clothes boutique for women

love the dramatic green chairs and the plant display

nice use of raw organic materials in the lamp, mat and wall installation.

calm and understated hotel reception.

love, love, love everything about this kitchen

David Hicks, my fav. local designer did everything perfectly in this room, love the padded back wall.

love the exposed light bulbs on the red wires and bead curtains.

innovative use of wall paper on the ceiling.
