112th cheesecake
this is my 112th cheesecake this year, to keep my customers (and myself) from getting bored, I try different flavours and toppings every other week. This one is a chai cheesecake with organic nectarines poached in a cinnamon and cardamom sugar syrup. If you wanted to try this one at home, you just add freshly roasted and ground cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves to a basic cheesecake recipe along with crystallised ginger and chai latte powder. This one is very apt for Byronbay because I am almost sure that the chai drinking culture in Australia started right here. The best chai mix is made in byron as well called Byron chai.

more of my room as requested
the Moroccan hanging tea light holders are nice lit up.(when I get around to climbing up and lighting them! The wallpaper is my favourite one ever, I like it so much that I also have it in my cafe but in black and white. It has paisleys and peacock plumes as well.( I think they had me in mind when they made it.)
The doors open up to my own deck, great for relaxing after a hard day's cooking. The guitar is my husband's, he is an avid muso. The stool is from kartell. Thats a jade money tree on the deck to keep me cashed up for more home wares! (only kidding). More pics soon.

Bison ceramics
I bought these cute miniature handmade Australian stoneware a couple of months back. I use them to store spices and they look good on my kitchen bench top, combining form and function. I just noticed them in this months Australian Home Beautiful. My hubby tells me that I should get a second job as a trend spotter for a magazine as I always seem to buy things before they become trendy!
Rhubarb- before and after photoes.
I realised that I have done only one post on cooking. I have been cooking for the last 20 years, 8 of those in my own cafe called the Cardamom Pod ( named after my favourite spice). I cook pure vegetarian which means no meat, fish, eggs, onions or garlic. Last year we managed to be a finalist in the Lifestyle Food awards. (the only one in Byron bay). Here I have pictures of some of the sweets I made for this weekend. The rhubarb and strawberry tart has been a favourite for the last 8 years. And the other one is a lemon, turkish delight & vanilla cheesecake with rhubarb and raspberry sauce. I use rhubarb a lot in my desserts because of it's lovely colour and tart taste.

my room, my way!
I used my favourite colour to decorate my room. It is a mix of new and old. The bedside tables are from a vintage shop here while the wallpaper(notice the paisleys) is from Cole & Sons in England. You may notice that its also a part of the picture behind my blog title. I know from a strictly interior designers point of view there are too many different shades of blue here but it works for me.
